Nato a Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Jorge de Leon intraprende lo studio del canto con Isabel Garcia Soto, perfezionandosi poi in Italia con Giuseppe Valdengo e in Spagna con Alfonso G.Leoz.
Vincitore del Concorso nazionale Villa Abaran di Murcia, si esibisce in opere, concerti e zarzuele nei principali teatri spagnoli di cui rimangono memorabili le interpretazioni de La Bruja di Chapí, Los Gavilanes di Guerrero, El dùo de la Africana e La del manojo de rosas.
Nel 2004 vince il primo premio e il premio “José Carreras” come miglior tenore al Concorso “Julian Gayarre”; l’anno seguente è vincitore del secondo premio al concorso “Jaime Aragall”.
Nel 2010 si è affermato in Andrea Chénier a Madrid, in Cavalleria rusticana e La vida breve a Valencia sotto la direzione di Lorin Maazel, in Carmen, ancora a Valencia ed all’Arena di Verona, in Madama Butterfly a Tenerife ed in Aida a Valencia.
Nel 2011 ha cantato Carmen al San Carlo di Napoli, Tosca a Madrid, Madama Butterfly a Bari, Tosca e Carmen a Palermo. Nel 2012 debutta alla Scala in Aida, e interpreta Le Cid e Tosca a Valencia e Il trovatore e Aida in Arena di Verona.
Il Teatro alla Scala l’ha chiamato per due tournée di Aida, in Qatar nel 2012 e in Giappone nel 2013, mentre dalla fine del 2012 ha cantato Turandot a Firenze e a Tokyo sotto la direzione di Zubin Mehta, Tosca a Pamplona e Valladolid, Aida a Palermo. Nell’estate 2013 è protagonista del Requiem di Verdi a Barcellona mentre, dopo l’Aida dell’Arena, vestirà i panni di Radames anche alla Scala e a Napoli Nel 2014 è a Berlino per Tosca, ad Avenches e Verona per Carmen, a Pechino e Milano per Cavalleria rusticana, a Bilbao per Alzira. Nel 2015 è stato invitato nuovamente a Pechino per Aida, ancora una volta diretto da Zubin Mehta.

Jorge De Leon was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife where he studied music and singing with Isabel Garcia Soto at this city’s Conservatory, later amplifies his singing knowledge in Italy with Giuseppe Valdengo and in Spain with Alfonso G. Leoz.
He won the first prize at IV Villa Abaran national contest in Murcia and started singing in Opera, Zarzuelas and concerts in different places, such as Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), Palau de la Música de Valencia, Auditorio del CICCA (Gran Canaria), Santander, Huelva, Gerona and Galicia at Xacoveo 99.
In that period his most important appearances were La Bruja by Ruperto Chapí (season opening production 2002/2003 of the Teatro de La Zarzuela) and furthermore at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo; Los Gavilanes composed by J. Guerrero in Valladolid and Oviedo. The season 2003 saw him in Dúo de la Africana in Tenerife and in Madrid, in La del manojo de rosas and as a soloist in the Noel concert at Auditorio Nacional with the Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Pascual Osa. 2004/2005 he results winner of numerous competitions, among them the X Julian Gayarre competition, Jose Carreras award and the Jaume Aragall contest.
These successes lead to an elevated request from Spanish and international theatres, and in the following years he performed Lucía di Lammermoor in Mahon, Los Bohemios in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, El Domino Azul in Madrid, La Chulapona in Oviedo, Opera Gala in London, Francisquita in St. Gallen, La Bruja in Valencia, Giannni Schicchi in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Il tabarro in Menorca, Andrea Chenier in Málaga, La Bruja in Madrid and Pamplona and Macbeth in Las Palmas.
On 2010 he had an important personal success in Andrea Chénier at the Teatro Real di Madrid, in Cavalleria rusticana and La vida breve at Palau de Les Arts in Valencia (conductor: Lorin Maazel), in Carmen in Valencia (conductor: Zubin Mehta) and at the Arena di Verona, in Madama Butterfly in Tenerife and in Aida a Valencia, under the musical guidance of Lorin Maazel and Omer Meir Wellber. Engegements of 2011 had been Carmen at the theater San Carlo in Naples, Tosca in Madrid, Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Tosca (directed by Calixto Bieito) and Carmen (conductor: Omer Meir Wellber) at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
On 2012 he made his debut at La Scala in Milan in Aida, performed in Le Cid and in Tosca as well as in Il Trovatore (conductor : Zubin Mehta) in Valencia and in Aida at the Arena di Verona.
Among his recent and future engagements : Aida in tournèe in Qatar with La Scala, Turandot in Florence and Tokyo under the musical giudance of Zubin Mehta, Tosca in Pamplona and Valladolid, Aida in Palermo and at the Arena di Verona, Madama Butterlfy in Barcellona, Aida at the Arena di Verona, La Scala in Milan, Aida at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli Cavalliera rusticana in Milan, Tosca at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Carmen at the Arena di Verona, Cavalleria rusticana in Beijing.
