Álvaro Zambrano began his musical studies playing piano at the Jorge Peña Hen ‘experimental’ Music School in La Serena, Chile. Later he studied singing with Ahlke Scheffelt at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, and participated in masterclasses with the Chilean soprano Cristina Gallardo-Domás, the renowned Mezzosoprano Christa Ludwig, and the Soprano Karan Armstrong.
From 2009 to 2012 Mr. Zambrano studied at the Musikhochschule Freiburg (Germany) with Prof. Reginaldo Pinheiro.
Between 2012-2016, Mr.Zambrano was a member of the Ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he made successful debuts as Nemorino (L‘elisir d’amore), Fenton (Falstaff),   Prunier (La Rondine),   Beppe (Pagliacci) and  Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) conducted by maestro Donald Runnicles, also performed at the Leipzig Opera.
In 2015, the Chilean Tenor performed the role of Prunier from“La Rondine” (G.Puccini) in a new production directed by the famous tenor   Rolando Villazón in the Deutsche Oper Berlin, from which a DVD was premiered in 2016; and the next year was launched“La Rondine”in CD format with the Bayerische Rundfunkorchester, conducted by maestro Ivan Repušić in Prinzregententheater, München.
In the 2016/17 season, Mr. Zambrano sung the role of Prunier (La Rondine – Puccini) for the Deutsche Oper Berlin; Albazar (Il Turco in Italia – Rossini) for the Bergen National Opera; Mengone (Lo Speziale – Haydn) in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Barcelona, Cologne and Zurich with the Kölner Kammerorchester.
Debuts as Don José (Carmen – Bizet) in an adaptation of Carmen for the summer opera festival “Mimi Goes Glumping” in Norway, and, also as Alexis in a concert performance of Giordano’s Siberia alongside Sonya Yoncheva with the Orchestra National of Montpellier and Maestro Domingo Hindoyan.
Alongside his operatic career, his work as recitalist has been flourishing, performing numerous recitals in Spain, Italy and Canada.
In 2017 he has given numerous recitals singing at the Freiburg Theatre, Innsbruck (Austria) and in Granada (Spain). During the summer he sang with Orquestra de Cámara Chile the “ Serenade for Horn and tenor” by Britten, starting a collaboration with Matias Piñeira, Solo-Horn of the Münchner Philharmoniker.
In December of 2017 he sang the Christmas Concert with Antwerpen Simphony Ochestra conducted by Maestro Jan Willem de Vriend.
